I have been a fitness client of Triangle Personal Training since its inception; in fact, I began training under the skilled supervision of Tom Stafford in 2000, soon after the birth of my daughter and through his own fitness training company which preceded TPT. During these years together, Tom has provided excellent nutrition and exercise information, created varied and effective workout sessions, coached me through the rehabilitation of a few minor injuries, always with a smile and a joke - sometimes good, sometimes bad. I know that his expectations for my training are based both on his careful assessment of my abilities and condition, as well as his thorough understanding of exercise physiology. And our sessions accumulate for me a bank of fitness and nutrition knowledge for daily application. Through the strength and core training, I have become remarkably fit - a lean and firm size 4 - strong enough to manhandle grocery bags and around-the-house chores that I face as a single parent of two. I believe my body strength also serves to underpin the discipline I need to balance my practice and child-rearing, the grace I have relied on to negotiate recent life changes, and the confidence with which I face my future. When do I like Tom most? When I slide into my size 4's and know I've got it goin' on. When do I like Tom least? 9:30 to 10:30 Thursday mornings.

What a difference working in the yard and garden has been after six months of training with Telese Coleman. A 54 year-old mother of five, sendentary (except for gardening) with aching knees and a sore back has undergone a major transformation! A day of weeding, shoveling dirt, hauling bricks, sand and mulch; planting shrubs; making new perennial beds has no longer incapacitated me for two days! The training has strengthened my legs and arms and abs so that I use my muscles, and my knees and back do not ache after a day or two or three working outside. The training is not something I could have done on my own. I've also learned safer ways to move and use my muscles.

At times I have often wondered what life would be like without my meetings with my personal trainer, John Hinkle. At 67 years old, I would not be walking 18 while toting my bag. Prior to working with John, my shoulder range of motion was extremely limited. My neck would not turn from center, neither left nor right, and the pain in my neck was sharp and steady. After a few months with John, the pain was gone and the golf club could be swung. That was just the start. My energy levels have increased and life is fuller. By the way, I also got my wife's approval for a new set of clubs!

On the advice of our children (not always something easy to do) we began multiple conditioning sessions each week with Omar in preparation for two hiking trips. IT WORKS! At altitudes of seven to ten thousand feet we were able to acclimatize more quickly and hike with better strength and less fatigue.

The benefits of exercising at Triangle Personal Training can be summed up in two words: Knowledge and Strength. I have worked with Tom Stafford at Triangle Personal Training since May of 2004. My strength has never been equaled. I can't believe some of the things I am now able to do. The big plus is that I am also much leaner with less cardio. And since my programs are explained to me I understand the purpose to my workouts and why I didn't get the results working out on machines or balancing on rubber pads. With improved strength my balance is better. I'm golfing better and feeling great. The learning atmosphere is outstanding. All the trainers work together. They discuss their clients in their weekly staff workshops to pool their knowledge to help clients achieve their goals. For the past 3 months John Hinkle has developed a strengthening program for my lower back that is unlike anything else I have tried over the years. My chronic back pain limited what I could do in terms of yard work, sports and activities with my young children.
