Our primary service is Personal Training
The first step in our relationship with you is to develop an understanding of who you are. Are you a veteran of exercise programs, or are you new to this whole exercise thing? What types of exercise programs have you participated in before? What kind of results did you see? Do you have any chronic joint or muscle pain? Do you have any heart conditions or other conditions that would affect your exercise program? The answers to these types of questions are all taken into consideration when designing your exercise program. We want to know where you are.
Next, we want to know what your fitness goals are. Do you want to run a marathon or simply walk without pain? Do you want to lose a little body fat or overcome morbid obesity? Do you want to hone your competitive edge, or simply look better in your clothes? We work with many different people with many different exercise backgrounds and greatly varying exercise goals. We know what it takes to help you accomplish those goals. With that in mind, we help you set realistic goals.
In your first session we perform a Z-health movement assessment. (Learn more about Z-Health in our article center) This will help elevate or prevent aches and pains so your body is prepared to reach and sustain maximum effort with no setbacks.
We then start your strength and conditioning program. Using body weight, free weights and Kettlebells. (See article center) we will teach you to develop strength through movement of your body. No strength machines in here. Real strength for common human movement. Think about it. If you where moving a piece of furniture across the room would you strap yourself into a chair and just push the furniture with your feet? Or would you lean into it with your body, bracing your core, driving with your legs and pushing with your arms? Of course you would and have done the latter. This is how we move our bodies in real life. We teach you how to develop strength for human movement.
Lastly depending on your program design by your trainer he or she may have you start some interval training. (See article center)
You will be given quite a bit of information in your first couple weeks of training. These are the one hour sessions. When you feel comfortable and have shown your trainer you have a solid understanding of the Z-Health (warm up) and the interval training at the end of the workout. You may want to start half hour sessions with your trainer. You will still be at the studio for a hour. You will do your Z-Health and warm up on your own. (10-15 minutes) Strength training with your trainer. (30 minutes) Interval training on your own. (15 minutes)
Many of our clients use the knowledge and experience gained in their sessions to start workouts on their own. (We strongly encourage this) They come back to their trainers for new programs and to brush up on their technique. We are fitness teachers. Our goal is to educate you.
